Blackjack Ongoing Series – Part 9 of 9

Blackjack is a game that can’t be beat over the long run. Over the course of our blackjack tutorial series I’ve been working to educate you in this fabulous game and I’ve been trying to make you a better blackjack player, so you can win more money. Whether you’re playing online or in the real world you can win and have fun with blackjack.

Over the course of this article I want to share with you some vital tips for becoming a blackjack master. Even if you don’t plan to play blackjack frequently, adhering to these tips will help you win more often. So let’s get started.

Blackjack is indeed a game of some luck and some skill. Anything in life has a degree of luck to it. But skill definitely factors into how often you win at blackjack. If you understand the game very well and implement proper playing strategy you can win a lot of money at blackjack. And if you don’t, you won’t.

Strategy is very important. Even blackjack players who don’t understand too much, but use proper basic strategy, can go toe to toe with any casino. Blackjack at a very low house advantage compared to other games.

In fact, if you do nothing else, learn basic blackjack strategy and use it. You’ll cut down the house edge, you win more money, and you’ll make fewer mistakes.

While playing blackjack variations can be fine, you want to limit your exposure to them. Usually these variations have higher house advantages and of course you need to play them very differently. Stick to basic blackjack basic strategy and you’ll be all right.

One thing you always want to look for a single deck blackjack and if that’s not available, double deck blackjack. Remember, the fewer the decks the better it is for you. One exception would be various online blackjack games, which use a single deck, but shuffle after every hand. Still, this is much better than playing in a shoe blackjack game.

If you’re playing in the real world, learning how to card count is to your advantage. Card counting and blackjack will help you tip the scales in your favor. However, if you’re playing blackjack online, card counting is of no value.

Perhaps one of the biggest tips I can give you is to keep your emotions in check. You’ll have winning hands and losing hands, winning days and losing days. Unless you can keep your emotions at bay, you’re prone to wild that swings, which is never good.

Of course the most important thing is that you have fun while playing blackjack. It’s a great game and I’ve enjoyed it for years. I hope you win many blackjack that in the future. Good luck at the tables.

Blackjack Ongoing Series – Part 7 of 9

Blackjack is a game full of wild myths and fantastic misconceptions. Over the course of this article I’ll try to set you straight by dispelling some of the wrong information that surrounds a great game of blackjack. Whether you play blackjack online or in real-world casinos, you’ll want to read this information.

Object of Blackjack

Unfortunately, most blackjack players think the object of blackjack is to get as close to 21 as possible. This just isn’t so. Many players fall by the wayside as they foolishly try and press their hands toward that magical number.

No my friend, the true object of the game of blackjack is extremely simple. Beat the dealer. You can beat the dealer with a hand of 12. You can beat the dealer with a hand of 20. All that matters is that you beat the dealer and win money.

Card Counting Works Online

I’ll cut to the chase. Card counting does not work at online casinos. Unless you are going to play in a real-world casino learning and knowing how to count cards in blackjack will do you absolutely no good whatsoever.

Even though an online casino might have single deck blackjack it’s not like the real-world casinos because they shuffle after every hand. Therefore, each hand is completely brand-new. You can’t count cards in an online casino.

You Can’t Beat Blackjack

There are many people running around the world that believe you can’t beat blackjack ever. I’m sorry, but it’s been proven. Yes, you can win at blackjack and be a winner over the long-term with this fabulous game.

The key to beating blackjack is knowing the game inside and out and playing properly. Many people have won a lot of money playing blackjack and there are many people in Las Vegas to do nothing but play blackjack for living. The game of blackjack can be beat and you can be a winner over the long term. Read that again.

In our next installment of this blackjack instructional series, we’ll talk about various blackjack variations. Most of the blackjack variations are fun to play from time to time, but some can be hazardous on your wallet. When playing a blackjack variation you have to adjust your playing style or you’ll just be handing money to the casino hand over fist. Until next time, good luck at the blackjack tables.

Casino Money Managing

Money management is a “buzz word” that’s thrown around the gaming industry, but many people don’t know exactly what it means or how to do it. In fact, there’s so much content on money management, most complete garbage, that you could spend a lifetime reading it all—and be as confused as ever in the end. Also, much of the content is far too technical to be of use to the average player. So, today I’ll give you some simple info.

Here’s the bottom line on money management. The purpose is to help you control the flow of money in the casino. It’s like a financial plan of sorts. Casinos are fun, but it’s extremely easy to get very “loose” with your money in them. Money management, if used and followed, can help you never lose more than you want and ensure that you walk away a winner.

First up is the task of not losing more than you want. It’s fairly easy to implement, but harder to follow. Basically, you want to set a spending amount before entering a casino or logging on. For instance, let’s say you’re willing to lose $100. That would be your spending limit. When you’ve lost $100 you’d leave the casino no matter what’s happening. Part of this step is also realizing that the odds of you winning millions are small.

So, we now have a “bankroll” of $100 and we’re ready to have some fun at the casino. By establishing this bankroll, you know how to play. For instance, if you’re a Blackjack player with a bankroll of $100, you wouldn’t start playing $25 hands. Perhaps $5 hands are more appropriate.

And this is part of the second task of money management—wagering. After establishing a bankroll, you need to establish a general wager amount. For instance, in Blackjack, you want to divide your bankroll by 20, which is 20 hands of play. For poker, you might divide by 40. And for Craps, you might divide by 50—so a $100 bankroll means you should play at the $1 Craps table.

Another benefit of watching your money is winning more. As you’re playing, pay attention to your current bankroll. For instance, if you’re playing Blackjack and your bankroll is now $200, you might change those $5 hands into $10 hands. It’s a ladder system. Likewise, if your bankroll declines to $40, you might play $1 Blackjack to try and get it up again.

You see, money management doesn’t need to be extremely technical. You don’t need amazing math skills either. By following these simple steps, you’ll get more out of your casino experience. The last step is to set a win amount and leave when you hit that amount—unless you’re willing to just play your bankroll out.

Spanish 21 For The Blackjack Player

So you love Blackjack, but you’ve stumbled upon this new to you game called Spanish 21. What the heck is it? Fear not. Today, I’ll present you with a quick-start intro to Spanish 21. If you already know Blackjack, you pretty much know how to play this game. Let’s get started.

The term “Spanish” came from the fact that many Spanish card games used a 48-card, rather than a 52-card, deck. As such, Spanish 21 has 48 cards. The missing four cards are the 10s. Yes, removing the 10s in the deck give the house a much bigger advantage, but the casino has attempted to appease you by making some rule changes.

For instance, in Blackjack, if you hit your way to 21 and the dealer does the same, it’s just a push and a pile of disappointment. Not in Spanish 21. If you hit your way to 21, you win even if the dealer does the same.

Another bonus players like is the 5, 6 and 7 card 21, which pay a bonus. Hit your way to 21 and you can score some serious cash. A five-card 21 pays 3 to 2. A six-card 21 pays 2 to 1 and the big seven-card 21 pays 3 to 1.

In addition to these bonuses, you can also score more cash by winning with certain hands. One such hand is having a 6, 7 and 8 of mixed suits. This hand pays 3 to 2. Get that combination in the same suit and a winning hand is paid 2 to 1-and 3 to 1 if it’s all in spades.

The other big bonus hand is the 7s hand. Get three 7s and you’ll receive a nice 3 to 2 payout. Spanish 21 is dealt from the shoe with multiple decks, so it’s possible to get three 7s of the same suit. And if you do, you’ll be paid 2 to 1 on a winning hand and 3 to 1 if it’s in spades.

And that leaves the super bonus. When the dealer’s upcard is a 7, the super bonus is in play. If you get three sevens of the same suit when this happens, you’ve just unlocked the super bonus. At most casinos, the super bonus starts at $1,000 and goes up to $5,000. That’s some bonus.

Oh, and if you’re playing at a real world table with other players, they get a small taste too. This “envy” bonus is fairly small-usually $25-$50-but it goes to all the other players and it can make you a real friend of the table.

Spanish 21 is one of those games to play if you’re bored with traditional Blackjack or if you just want some extra fun.

Does Counting Work?

If you’re a Blackjack player or striving to become one, it won’t be long until you hear about counting cards-if you haven’t already heard.

Counting cards in Blackjack will give the good Blackjack player better odds to come out ahead in the long run. It’s not some super-secret formula for winning millions of dollars at Blackjack overnight.

Also, when you count cards, you’re just trying to get a read on what type of cards are left in the deck and not trying to guess what exact card is due next-ala the Rain Man.

Here’s the basic premise. When there’s a great chance that big cards will come out, the win meter swings to your favor. When there’s a great chance that small cards will come out, the win meter swings harder to the dealer.

So, the ideal situation is one in which lots of large cards are left in the deck and in which the probability of those cards coming out is greater. When this happens, you bet larger than normal.

And that’s really the main philosophy. When there are greater numbers of small cards left, reduce your wager. When there are greater numbers of large cards left, bet bigger. That doesn’t mean you bet $5 on one hand and $5,000 the next. A typical swing might be $5-$15. But, you’ll need to decide this for yourself.

Counting cards doesn’t work online. Why? Well, online casinos shuffle their deck(s) for each hand-unless noted somewhere. Since they do this, counting is of no value.

In the real world, you’ll typically find that counting pays off as decks get smaller. But here’s the catch. To count successfully, you must be able to see all the cards. That’s right. If the player next to you just tosses in his or her card face down, you’ve lost an edge. The more it happens, the worse your count will be.

Let’s dispel one false misconception about counting cards right now. You don’t need to be a math genius to do it. Can you count from 0 to 2 and from 0 to -2? If so, you’re talented enough. All you need to do is practice.

The first time you go out to count, it’s best to play with a small table. Also, if you can find a game that deals the cards face up, you’ll have an easier time learning.

Remember, counting cards by itself does absolutely nothing. If you’re a poor Blackjack player, counting cards won’t help you win. In fact, it can help you lose more money and faster. Counting cards in Blackjack is a tool to aid those who understand the game and can play it properly.

How do you count cards? We’ll go over that in another article.
