Have you heard about Sic-Bo? If you plan on taking a trip to Macao, you definitely will see it in the casinos. It’s in the US as well, just not as popular. Nonetheless, this is a casino game, so I’m going to give you a quick overview. Once you try it, you may find you like it.
Soc-Bo is a table game. The table is square and as per the usual, betting is done with chips. Unless the game you’re at is ancient, the table will actually light up to show the winning dice combinations. The basic purpose of the game is to guess the numbers that will come out on the three dice used to play the game. Simple right?
Okay, there’s a little more than that. You can get paid a multiple of ways, which means the game gets really addictive. The payouts vary from even money (yawn) to 180-1 (now we’re talking). Of course, with higher payouts comes higher house advantages. As with other games, like Craps, there are some bets that are just stupid—but are fun and lovely when you score them.
Like with Roulette, there’s a high and low bet. They are called Small and Big. The Small bet is for dice totals equaling 4 to 10. The Big bet is for dice totals equaling 11 to 18—remember there are three dice.
You can also bet on pairs (two sixes for example). The payout varies, so check the layout or ask the dealer. This is a fun bet. I like it. Typically, you’ll be paid 8-1 for this wager, but I’ve seen 10-1. For a little more excitement, bet on the Triplet. As you might expect, you need all three dice to be the same. Light em up and you’ll be paid a whopping 180 – 1. Yes, your odds of hitting it are lower and the house advantage is high, but it sure is a nice payout.
It’s dice, which means there are plenty of ways to bet them. Another way is the two-number combo, which allows you to wager on any of the combos listed on the layout. For instance, one come is a 5 and 3. This wager pays 5 to 1 when it hits.
Finally, there’s one more bet that I really like. It’s the single number wager. As the name implies, you’re betting on 1-6. You’ve got three shots to win this bet too. First, the number could come up once on any of the dice and that pays even money. Second, the number could come up twice (pays 2-1). Lastly, it could come up thrice (pays 3-1).
Either way you slice it, Sic-Bo is a fun, addictive dice game. If you’re a Craps enthusiast, check out Sic-Bo.
